  • Transantiago

I decided to mouth off one of the most terrible things that could have happened to the city I live in, Santiago, Chile.

A while ago, the sages in power for 16+ years decided to radically change the public transportation system. Seemed something challenging but a good idea nonetheless. However, the incompetence of the authorities has become evident as the implementation phase has done nothing but to create public unrest, riots and even deaths inside the Metro underground system, let alone the dramatic increase in mental illnesses (depression, insomnia) that are affecting every inhabitant of this city but mostly.... who? You got it: the poor. Just check the BBC News website link below to get an idea.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6498445.stm

While the idea itself is great, it has been evident that technocrats and bureaucrats have no idea how people live in this city and have probably never been to the surrounding poor suburbs of Santiago. People are figures, expendable, disposable, only rates in a project. 4 people dead? Lovely! the rate is so low amongst millions of people that it is not a problem! The dead are just statistics shown in a power point presentation for the board of directors and the technocrats in the government where both the public and private sectors congratulate one another showing their self-indulgence.

How in the world, people who are supposed to have the highest level possible of education and degrees (MBAs, PhDs, and the like) can be so utterly incompetent when it comes to designing and implementing a transportation project? It is indeed an immensely challenging project, it's true, I'm not arguing that part but if the authorities are supposed to choose the best advisers and consultants, why does this happen? Are those "consultants" real consultants or are they people from their political party who contributed to some senator's campaign? Or are there "political favours" that have to be paid back? Good thing the president is a Socialist because if we had the right wing parties in office, we might as well change the country's name from just Chile to Chile, Inc. No, the right wing in Chile is NOT the solution. After Pinochet's coup they systematically looted the Chilean state goods and made cronyism a national institution here, something the "Socialist" governments have learnt very well, I must say.

If you are ever in Santiago, try not to get on the Metro underground system during rush hour and forget about getting on a bus, really. At least until everything is redesigned and re-implemented. For the time being, this Transantiago thing is a timebomb and increasingly unhappy stressed out people won't take any more and will eventually explode with the consequent social unrest and the violence it brings with it.

  • Gilgamesh

Interesting reading I got me lately, The Epic of Gilgamesh. Usually, this book is not very well known outside the scholar community, but it has certain occult - or esoteric if you will, implications that are worth knowing by us the regular citizens of the world.

I am not into the esoterica, but as a simple mortal I question many of the "traditional" teachings and beliefs we've grown up with. One of these is the notion of us being the one and only civilisation on earth. The classic questions about who we are, where we are going, etc, are intended to create more and more mysteries and enigmas when trying to respond to them and if you ask yourself, "Where does my notion of existence come from?" you necessarily need to hark back to what the past is telling you, starting obviously with the accepted traditional history line we re all taught since we're little kids.

But what about unsatisfactorily explained (and well known) evidence such as the pyramids? not only the ones in Egypt, but also the ones in Central America and Mexico. And why this primitive tribe lost in the jungle in Africa (Dogons) know that Sirius is a star and has company and it is a dual star (Sirius "A" and Sirius "B"), something that was recently proved by advanced telescopes pointed at Sirius from satellites outside the atmosphere. OK, it is arguable whether or not they were visited by aliens who taught them that or not but the point is.... why have they always known that while we haven't? interesting info about Dogons here:

    http://www.geocities.com/jilaens/dogons.html?200625

The Epic of Gilgamesh is interesting in terms of describing the quest of Gilgamesh for eternal life "like the gods"; Enlil, the father of all the gods decrees kingship only for Gilgamesh but the implications are more profound for humankind, doomed to "unending death". Apart from the different versions that exist (Acadian, Standard, etc) the bottom line, as I perceive it, is that Gilgamesh incarnates the quest for eternal life we all have deep inside, something like a hidden wish that comes from deep inside our souls, assuming you believe we have a soul.

And what does this have to do with the occult or esoteric? Well, in my perception it has to do with the legacy of a hidden knowledge that has been passed from generation through generation by certain "selected few" who have access to this knowledge. Free Masonry or Rosacrucians claim to be some of those "selected few", and they may very well be. But the way see it is why hide that legacy? why keep the rest of us mortals in "spiritual darkness" if we all have a Gilgamesh in the bottom of our hearts. Why not try to wake up the Gilgamesh we all have and guide it through his quest, ultimately our own quest, for eternal life? Perhaps my approach is somewhat "Christian", in the sense that Christ was wide open when saying He was the Truth, nothing to hide there. I agree that many would say we are not all prepared to receive that wisdom and that a certain degree of either spiritual or intellectual awareness of this knowledge is mandatory prior to receive it; can't argue with that. But what I do argue is the fact that this obsession to hide this heritage and this knowledge in secret societies, even inside the Catholic church as the rumour has it, has deviated the original purpose of helping mankind find a better way to live, a better way to construct society, construct civilisation. This opens a new argument; the notions of good and evil. Some might say intrinsic evil in man deviates any original "good purpose", but then again, this is a matter for further development and I may elaborate about it some other time. For this post purposes, I feel that all we have been taught, all we have believed in and all traditional and "official" history we have learnt deserves a second glance and we would all do good in questioning it and not accepting it "as is" as though it were an undisputable fact. Have you ever wondered what would happen if scientists can prove the Sphinx was built ca. 10,500 B.C.? Now that would shake the very foundations of all history of mankind. For now, let us say that it is worth asking ourselves, "Is it everything as we believe it has been?" Some of us might find the answer, someday, sometime, somewhere, whether in this world or another...

  • De Profundis

After a witty comment from a friend of mine about my Metalheads posting, who claims to be the Chronicler Of Our Troubled Times & Imparter Of Truth & Wisdom....... I felt compelled to show that Metalheads are more than trashy headbangers. Something that has caught my attention in Metal has been its lyrics and wanted to share two of the newest songs I am playing with my band. You read them and let your mind flow...

    Death Throes

    It’s the final stage
    You’ll never see light again
    It’ the end approaching
And you’re going trough the throes

How did it come to this, reaching the end of all your woes?
You never expected it, to be this way and pass away
You look but don’t see, staring pointless at your saviour
And yes, it’s the end; you’re breathless through the throes

Oh f**king death throes, my life is right in front of me
Being weighed and measured, and found already wanting
All what’s said and done closes in around my head
What’s next oh tell me, no turning back oh no, I’m dying

Is this my last chance to wake up?
F**k knows what’s after these Death Throes

    *******

    Demons in the skies

Demons in the sky chasing people underneath
Thou hath been deemed useless flesh
    Void-eyed demoness summons your presence
    Aye, thou, the unsaved.

Demons in the skies, killing people underneath
In the presence of demons I fear
Panic wakes me up, was It just a dream
or that creature on my window was here?

    Chorus

    Oh, prophecies foretold Armageddon
Oh, there is no hope once hell’s unleashed on earth
No way for thou to be on the run, my friend
Spotted and slammed against the walls, pierced by the trident of death.

    Chorus 2

No prayer shall be heard / once legions are released
No mortal shall be kept alive / but drowned into the pits
No creation shall survive / wrath of Inferno’s rebellion
And thou, my friend, shall be the first one seized

  • Metalheads

Death, Black, Thrash, even "nu" (urgh), different styles, different bands, different attitude. Well, I am a metalhead myself so I am more or less acquainted with the different styles these days. My preference is Swedish Death Metal, great bands continue to come out of Sweden, but there is excellent German Thrash and great Norwegian Black. When Metal started to differentiate or rather "spread" into these different styles, I know not. However, it all seems to have started when classic bands like Black Sabbath or Venom went on playing heavier music. It would be great to read a serious case study of the different styles of Metal and their origins but for the time being, we must content ourselves with listening to bands from all over the world that blend Metal with technical complexities from Jazz and/or classical music, which has given Metal a new fresh air. Please note that I'm not talking about bands like Dream Theatre which - despite being awesome musicians, I don't think they qualify as a Metal band, properly speaking, but rather progressive rock if you will. DT's "feminelli" vocalist has definitely nothing to do with Metal so... draw your conclusions. And that American "invention" so-called "nu-metal"... well, why bother really, it's crap made up by producers and the showbiz which American teens buy merrily, and so do other teens around the globe. If you ask me, that "thing" should be banned from record stores. :))

But oh well, Regardless of the styles, Metal styles have one thing in common: unconditional followers. We can say that one of the main characteristics of Metal is precisely the fans. Once you get into Metal, you don't let go. As Aussie rock'n roll band
AC/DC put it brilliantly, Metal "shakes your foundation" and paraphrasing them too, Metal ain't no pollution, so let us keep on head banging to the overdriven guitar riffs, double bass drumming and infernal growling. \m/

  • ....she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

I looked up in the Bible a title for this chapter today - perhaps pretentiously must admit, but still, it sounds very good to me. Women... what a wonderful creation, what a marvellous gift to men, what a delicious inspiration for music, poetry, paintings, what a reference when talking about beauty........ yet what a challenge when it comes to understanding them! No offence ladies, but you must agree with me at least on this one.

I recall when seeing a few paintings from Rubens in a museum a long time ago I said to myself: in Rubens' times the standards of beauty had nothing to do with today's, that's for sure. However, when you see the big picture (quite literally in this case) those pale fat women were brilliantly conceived to depict beauty the way Rubens wanted them to. I must have been around 13 or 14 when I saw those paintings and since then I became curious about the beauty of women. All women have something beautiful, I believe there must be more to a woman than a pretty face and a nice rear... Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to be a pseudo spiritualistic woman idealiser who's traumatised by his mother's religious strictness. I'm only saying that there is nothing in this world that better expresses beauty than a woman, that's all. A woman is only rivalled by mother nature, but then again, it's a different kind of beauty.

For me - being born from a woman and being a father to one, women inspire absolute respect and admiration, let alone contemplation when she's beautiful, something my woman doesn't quite understand yet (she may never, really) and it has brought about more than a quarrel. Still, I will live up to my thoughts on Rubens. No matter how, women brilliantly depict beauty to its full extent with their ideas and ideals, goals in life, persistence, styles even their contradictions and also with their faces, bodies, curves, hair.... We men try to find a balance between all the above, sometimes very hard to find but the quest is worth the effort. All I can say for now is thank you God for women!

  • Beer!

What's in Wolfo's World today? Aaaah, the thought of a foamy cold pint of lager beer while the clock gets round almost imperceptibly slow in the merciless routine of the office hours.....

Where I am located, Chile, South America, wine is the most famous drink here followed perhaps by Pisco, which Peruvians claim to be their own, not Chilean. I must say, I poisoned myself with Pisco twice (teenager drinking frenzy) and can't drink the s**te that much ever since. Anyway, That's what I like about beer, perhaps the oldest beverage in the history of mankind. You can get drunk and still you don't swear to God you won't drink beer again; in fact, nothing better than a beer when you wake up all hung over. Problem is, that single beer is followed by another one and yet another one... I'm getting really thirsty mates, I'm drooling! I'm definitely going down the pub after work, that's for sure. God knows what's going to be in my world tomorrow but today, beer craving is unbearable. I need a pint!! Slainte!

  • Why Not?

Many people has blogs, and sometimes you hear.. hey, visit my blog, have you read Jane Doe's blog?, gawd, even the rich and famous have blogs so I said to myself... hey self, why not? so self went: ok, but what is it going to be about? which is indeed a good question so I will let the ideas to storm around my mind and who knows what I'm going to come up with but in any case, I intend it to be my own... World. So in a nutshell, what's in Wolfo's world? let us check real quick:

    1) Music & Guitars, definitely full of both.
    2) Beautiful Women (Careful, not just any pretty woman; when I say beautiful I mean precisely that, full of beauty, either internal or external)
    3) BEER. But of course! it is arguable whether or not this item goes in the third place, second or even first but let's place it third... for now
    4) Poetry & Literature. Don't yawn, it's true!

That's more or less my guideline and I will see what other satanically depraved or divinely angelical ideas drain down the sewage of my brains. AH! here's a pic of me you all can laugh at or be afraid of... (I prefer the former) ha!
